Gothic prom look no 1

Hello everybody! :)

So now I'm starting my tutorial series for different kinds of prom makeup looks. I'm starting off with a quite extreme look since this is probably what I would wear myself. :)

What do you need to think about when doing a look for prom or a wedding?
Most people would like to say that you should wear something natural so that you won't look at your prom-photos when you're 45 and wonder what the heck you were thinking. Somewhat, I can agree but that of course depends on who you are and what makeup you normally wear.
If a lot of makeup makes you feel uncomfortable then you shouldn't put on to much just because it's prom. Don't wear anything that makes you uncomfortable!
And the same is of course true for the opposite; if you normally look like Razor Candi and feel comfortable with that you shouldn't "make-down" just because it's prom (or your wedding).

So here's the look we're doing today.

If you're wearing a glossy black lip, be sure to find a lipstick that doesn't bleed. This liplook is made of eyeliner and lipgloss and bleeds like crazy! Bleeding is when the lipstick doesn't stay put, but wanders off into the fine lines around your lips. Not cute! :S

Step 1. Prime your eyes with a good primer. Priming is essential for a prom makeup look since you want it to last all night without creasing.

Step 2. Sketch the rough outline of the cateye shape with a black eyeliner pencil.

Step 3. Clean up the shape and fill in the outer part with the eyeliner pencil. Blend inwards with a synthetic angled brush.

Step 4. Apply NYX Jumbo pencil in Milk on the inner part of the lid and blend it out gently.

Step 5. Fill in the black part of the cateye with black eyeshadow. On top of Milk, apply MakeupGeek eyeshadow Mercury with is a shimmery silver. Blend it into the black. In the inner corner, pop on some matte white eyeshadow (you could use shimmer if you'd like).

Step 6. Fill in the upper and lower waterlines with a black eyeliner pencil. Trace the lower lash line with a black eyeliner pencil and create "wings" in the corners. Go over the eyeliner pencil with black eyeshadow to set it. Line the upper lash line with black gel liner.

Step 7. Apply mascara and add a pair of false eyelashes. Fill in the eyebrows.

Step 8. With a black liquid eyeliner paint on the dots. :)

So that's all for this prom look! :D If you have any requests for special prom looks that you'd like to see a tutorial for, please just let me know. :)

Have a nice day everyone!

Glowing embers

Hello everybody! :)

Now I've made so many wearable looks lately so it's time for something that most people wouldn't call wearable.

The inspiration for this look actually came from a look that I encountered on the fabulous makeup site the Makeupbee.
Here's the look I was inspired by:

https://www.makeupbee.com/look.php?look_id=7675&qbt=likedlooks&qb_lookid=7675&qb_uid=25242

It's an amazing look, but I didn't want to copy it 100% so I made my own version. :)

My skin is a disaster right now, but luckily it doesn't look to bad on the photos (at least not if you watch it from a distance...). I really need to find a better foundation but most foundations are not light enough. I'm thinking about trying Illamasqua Skin Base because it is possible to get it in a very light and even a white one. We don't have Illamasqua here in Sweden though, so I would have to order it from their website and wouldn't be too happy if it turned out to be a bad foundation for my skin...

I realized today that I feel very, very comfortable with black lipstick. Black lipstick can goth up practically any look. :)

On the lid I'm wearing Shimma shimma by MakeupGeek, which is a gorgeous champagne color that would look awesome for a prom look. Since it's shimmery it's very easy to blend it with darker colors.

A tip if you want darker brows but are afraid it will get too dark is to fill them in as usual with a color matching your natural brow color and then apply a black (tap off the brush to remove excess eyeshadow) on the "tail" of the brow, creating a gradient.

In the future I intend to do more lip-looks. I usually don't spend too much money on lipsticks, since eye-makeup is more fun, but recently I've discovered that lip-looks can be fun as well. :)

Spring is bursting out

Hello everybody! :)

In my town the leaves have just started to burst out on trees and bushes and that was what inspired me for this look. Some parts of spring I like, as the warmth and lightness that you feel when the days grow longer. Some parts of spring are just terrible though, like the allergies and having to apply sunscreen all the time not to get burned. My skin is very sun-sensetive so I have to use spf 93840 or something like that whenever I'm going to stay outside more than 15 minutes. :)

I wore this look yesterday when I was trying to look as "normal" as possible (try that with purple hair...), since I was out looking for a job. It's a pity that it has to be that way, people judging you just because you have a style that's outside the mainstream range.

Hope you like the look! :)

I thought I'd place the pictures in an order different from the one I usually place them in. :)

On my lips I'm wearing nothing but ordinary lipbalm. A pink lipgloss would look great combined with the eye look too, but I just didn't feel like it.

I'm beginning to like this way of experimenting with color, brown or gray in the outer corner and a bright color in the inner. It makes a very wearable but still fun and colorful look.

On the waterline I have applied Nyx Jumbo Pencil in Milk and then Lucky green on top of it. I would have preferred using a green eyeliner but I don't have one that's suitable for this look so I did it this way instead. :) A darker green eyeliner like NYX Jumbo Pencil in Rocky Mountain green or the Urban Decay 24/7 glide on eyeliner pencil in Graffiti would have looked great on the waterline too!

Face
*Everlasting foundation Ivory (Clarins)
*Blush Matt glory (MakeUpStore)

Eyebrows
*Latte (MakeupGeek)

Eyes
*Fluidline Blacktrack (M.A.C.)
*Jumbo Pencil Milk (NYX), inner corner, waterline.
*Latte (MakeupGeek), medium brown, outer part of lid blended above crease.
*Mocha (MakeupGeek), dark brown, outer part of lid.
*Cocoa bear (MakeupGeek), red brown, outer part of crease blended upwards.
*Fuji (MakeupGeek), matte apple green, inner part of lid.
*Lucky green (M.A.C.), shimmery lime green, on top of Fuji, waterline, lower lash line.
*Gesso (M.A.C.),  matte white, brow highlight.
*Shimmery white from Isadora, inner corner highlight
*False eyelashes #110 (Ardell)

That's all for today! I hope I'll be back tomorrow but my dog, Ester, is going to have dental surgery so I don't know if I will have time.
Have a nice day everyone!

Tangled

Hello everybody! :)

I've finally come out of my exile since I finished the last book in the Hunger Games-series today. Those books are just amazing! So, if you haven't read them already, go on and read them!

Anyways, the other day I made a makeup look that accidentally reminded me a lot of the flags with the sun on a purple background from the Disney-movie "Tangled". I don't know if I had some particular inspiration for this look from the beginning though.

I like to have a golden waterline since it opens up the eye and makes blue eyes pop. Still, gold is excellent for brown and green eyes as well.

On my lips I'm just wearing a nude lipgloss with a golden eyeshadow placed in the center of both the upper and lower lips. Looks a bit orange on the picture but it is very pretty irl when you can see the golden sparkles.

Face
*Everlasting foundation Ivory (Clarins)

*Compact white powder (Stargazer)
*Blush Glow (e.l.f.)

Classic pinup look

Hello everybody!

The look of today is a classic pinup look, but the inspiration actually came from Snow White. And by that I mean the Snow White in the old cartoon, Disney movie. I figured since I recently did the look of the Evil Queen from "Snow White and the Huntsman" it would be fun to do a Snow White look as well. Only, the look Kristen Stewart wears in the movie is pretty boring (at least what I've seen of it this far...) so I chose to do something else instead. :)

I guess the Snow White-part of this look really is the "pure" and innocent colors combined with a pale complexion and a blood-red mouth. It's a shame that you can't really see the pretty, frosty shimmer of the eyeshadows on the pictures.

On my lips I'm wearing Russian red by M.A.C. but since it's a matte, velvety lipstick I decided to add some Luscious Liquid Lipstick in Cherry tart by e.l.f. to get a little bit of gloss.

Face
*Everlasting foundation Ivory (Clarins)
*Studio finish concealer (M.A.C.)
*Compact white powder (Stargazer)
*Wonderblush Cleopatra (MakeUpStore)

Eyebrows
*Charcoal brown (M.A.C.)

Eyes
*Fluidline Blacktrack (M.A.C.)
*Jumbo Pencil Milk (NYX)
*Shimma shimma (MakeupGeek), champagne, lid.
* Charcoal brown (M.A.C.), medium brown, crease and outer corner.
*Gesso (M.A.C.), matte white, inner corner and brow highlight.
*False eyelashes #13 by Red Cherry

Lips
*Russian red Lipstick (M.A.C.)
*Cherry tart Luscious liquid lipstick (e.l.f.)

Since it's spring and spring means prom-time for a lot of people I will be making some prom makeup looks soon. Above all I will do some bolder looks that are still not too much.

Thank you for visiting and hope to see you soon! :) Have a nice day!

Snow White and the Huntsman: The Evil Queen makeup

Hello everybody!

The look of today is inspired by the look that the Evil Queen (Charlize Theron) wears in the upcoming movie "Snow White and the Huntsman". I'm not really superexcited about this movie but the Queen's makeup is fabulous!
On her eyelids she wears this greyish green iridescent color that is very suitable for any spring makeup look, and still evil enough to suit us who are not really into the whole cute, pastel makeup thing, but still want to try out a fresh, lighter look.

Note that this look is not meant to be an exact copy of the Charlize's look in the movie, just inspired by. ;) If you want a precise copy of the look I suggest that you check out the Pixiwoo sister's tutorial for this look! You can find it on their Youtube channel.

The light pistachio green in the inner corner and the smokey grays in the outer part of the eye makes an unusual but attractive combination. It is a great variation of the regular smokey eye, and it can be toned done to suit for work or spiced up for a dramatic evening look. For me, however, this is about as toned down as it can get. ;)

Since we have so much shimmer going on on the lids I added a matte white as a highlight in the inner corner. I think that this combination of textures creates a nice, dramatic effect. I haven't really added any highlight beneath the brows for this look, just a soft wash of the creamy color Vanilla bean by MakeupGeek. It is too dark for me to be used as a highlight but using it to blend the upper edge of the smokey eyeshadows creates a soft shimmer on the brow bone, that will reflect light.

On both my cheeks and lips I've used my favorite blush Cleopatra by MakeUpStore. Mixed with lip balm it can be used as a soft, sheer lipstick.

Face
*Everlasting foundation Ivory (Clarins)
*Studio finish concealer (M.A.C.)
*Compact white powder (Stargazer)
*Wonderblush Cleopatra (MakeUpStore)

Eyebrows
*Charcoal brown (M.A.C.)

Eyes
*Fluidline Blacktrack (M.A.C.)
*Eye kohl Smolder (M.A.C.)
*Appletini (MakeupGeek), green inner corner.
*Mercury (MakeupGeek), silver, middle of the lid.
*Vanilla bean (MakeupGeek), creamy white, under brow.
*Knight divine (M.A.C.), dark gray, outer corner and under lower lashes.
*Gesso (M.A.C.), matte white, inner corner highlight.
*Pollution (MakeUpStore), matte black, outer corner.
*False eyelashes #28 by Red Cherry

Lips
*Lypsyl lipbalm
*Wonderblush Cleopatra (MakeUpStore)

That was all for this blogpost! :) I have no idea what the next look will be. Some day, hopefully soon, I will post a review of my new MakeupGeek eyeshadows and also of a nail polish that I have tried out.

Have a lovely day!

Black widow

Hello everybody! :)

The look of today is inspired by the gorgeous, gothic model Lady Amaranth. When I want to do a sophisticated goth makeup I usually look at her pictures for inspiration. If you're into goth and don't know who she is you should definitely check her out!

This look is a parted cat eye (can you call it that?) and I think it's a little bit more interesting than the regular black cat eye that is usually associated with goth makeup.

Of course you can skip the winged out crease altogether and get a far more wearable look, if that suits your preferences better. :)

On my crease I'm wearing Blanc type by M.A.C., which is a color that is very close to my natural skin tone. If you're darker you can choose a darker toned eyeshadow or stick to a lighter one to get more contrast.

This look would be awesome with a black lipstick but my lips are really dry at the moment so I preferred to keep them natural and only put on some lip balm.

Face
*Everlasting foundation Ivory (Clarins)
*Studio finish concealer (M.A.C.)

Eyebrows

That's all for this post! I hope it was inspiring and that you liked the look! :)
